Both the national and the Budapest heat record was broken this Friday. According to the National Meteorological Service, it was really warm, almost corresponding to the end of May and the beginning of June.
Beforehand, the capital's heat record of February 26 was 18.9 degrees Celsius recorded in 2008. This time, it was now more than one degree warmer in Újpest. The capital’s new daily record is now 20 degrees.
The national record was previously 20.7 degrees, measured in 2008 at the Baja-Csávoly railway station. This Friday, based on preliminary data, higher values were measured at 28 stations of the meteorological service nationwide. The highest value was that of Kiskunfélegyháza with 22.4 degrees.
As for the next few days, a cold front is forecast to arrive on Saturday, causing temperatures to drop by several degrees. By dawn, the air cools down by an extra 1 to 7 degrees, but there may also be weak frost in the northern valleys. The highest daytime temperatures will usually be between 8 and 13 degrees.
