The number of car ownership changes confirms what the market-leading hasznaltauto.hu ('used cars') searches have shown since mid-May: buyers have returned to the used car market.
In June, the market strengthened: 11.5% more used car ownership changes were registered than in June last year, and 66% more than in April. The three most sought-after models are the Opel Astra, the Ford Focus and the Volkswagen Golf.
In the first half of 2020, a total of 367,413 used cars changed hands in Hungary (more precisely, this number was registered by the Ministry of the Interior), which shows a decrease of only 5.7% compared to the previous year. The latter is a particularly favorable figure, compared to a 23.7% decline in the new car market and a 17.8% decline in used car imports.
