In order to ensure customer service and the smooth operation of service stations, Mol, the operator of the largest gas station network in Hungary, has announced that from Friday, a maximum of 50 liters of fuel can be purchased at a normal pump at its filling stations instead of the previous 100 liters.
The company told the state news agency that the limit was set on the basis of the amount that is sufficient for residential users.
It was also pointed out that if consumers fill up a car with a Hungarian registration plate, they pay the official (reduced) price, if they fills up a petrol can, they have to pay the market price.
Mol therefore asks customers to fill up an external can in addition to the petrol tank of their vehicle, separately from the petrol tank, after paying the purchase price of the petrol. If the refueling into the fuel tank of the vehicle and into the can is done at the same time in one transaction, the market price indicated at the service station shall be paid for the total amount of refueling.
Friday afternoon, the Austrian oil company ÖMV also announced a limit of 50 liters per purchase at its Hungarian filling station network.
