According to the reports of the doctors participating in the monitoring service, in the 52nd week of four working days, almost 13,000 people went to the doctor with flu-like symptoms, the National Center for Public Health (NNK) has announced in its weekly report.

They wrote that between December 26 and January 1, 134,000 people in the country went to the doctor with symptoms of an acute respiratory infection, of which 12,900 people were diagnosed with a flu-like illness.

Among the latter, 27.6% of patients were children, 31.6% were 15-34 years old, 26.6% were 35-59 years old, and 14.2% were over 60 years old.

In the 52nd calendar week, respiratory tract samples from a total of 41 patients arrived at the NNK laboratory. Of the nine samples submitted by sentinel doctors, influenza virus was detected in three patients, coronavirus in four patients, and respiratory giant cell virus (RSV) in one patient. Of the 15 samples received as part of the traditional diagnostic test, seven were positive for the flu and one was positive for the coronavirus, they added.

A report was received about the accumulation of influenza-like illnesses in the 52nd week: illnesses with high fever and respiratory symptoms occurred in a nursing home in Győr-Moson-Sopron County. Samples were taken from six patients, and virological tests confirmed the presence of the influenza virus in all six of them.
