Arriving and departing flights are being temporarily halted at Liszt Ferenc International due to black ice and extreme icing, operator Budapest Airport said on Tuesday.
Flights were halted at 10:25 for safety reasons, Budapest Airport added.
In an update a little before noon, Budapest Airport said that the nose gear of Ethiopian Airlines cargo flight ETH3707 had slipped off the paved surface of a taxiway onto the grass while taxiing, causing the aircraft to become stuck. Efforts are being made to free the aircraft and an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing, it added.
Budapest Airport noted that several other airports in Central Europe had been temporarily closed because of the weather.
