Eight people died, eight were seriously injured and forty suffered minor injuries in an accident on the M7 motorway in Hungary early Sunday morning. The bus was carrying Hungarian tourists returning from a one-day holiday in Croatia.
According to unconfirmed media reports, the crash may have occurred because the bus with Hungarian number plates started to pull down from the right lane at high speed towards the stop lane and hit the right pillar of a flyover, causing it to roll over onto its side. The driver was also killed. The accident occurred at relatively high speed near Székesfehérvár. Police are still investigating the circumstances of the incident,
The state news agency MTI quoted an expert as saying that the investigation into the causes of the accident will be a long process. He said that the accident could have been caused by the driver falling asleep, sickness or a technical problem.
