The Millennium and Z generations are determined and want to build a better future in the face of unprecedented health and economic problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Deloitte's latest research.
The results of the 2020 global survey suggest that these resilient generations may play a key role in creating ‘better normality’.
In its 2020 Millennium Generation Global Survey, Deloitte sought, before and after the COVID-19 pandemic emergency, the views of more than 27,500 people aged 20-30 on issues like the economy, government, sustainability and the epidemic.
The research reveals that greater societal issues remain important for the Millennium and Z generations, despite the fact that many of them face individual challenges and personal anxiety. Moreover, the pandemic only reinforced their desire for positive change both in their own communities and globally. They continue to fight for a world where the attitudes of businesses and governments also reflect their commitment to society, putting people ahead of profits and prioritizing environmental sustainability.
According to the generations surveyed, the post-epidemic world of COVID-19 will be different and will fit better into the ideal that has emerged in current and previous surveys. They base this on their current experience: how fast the Earth’s regeneration has started, how well businesses are adapting to challenges they have never experienced, and how resourceful and collaborative people can be. They believe a post-epidemic society can be better than the one before it and are persistent enough to make that belief a reality.
