Suzuki has inaugurated its own solar park at its Esztergom plant, the nearly HUF 800 million investment will cover 6-7% of the company's annual energy needs, the company's communications manager, Zsuzsanna Bonnár-Csonka told MTI on Monday.
She highlighted that the solar panels installed on the roofs of the various units of the factory are an important part of the sustainability effort to achieve carbon neutrality for all Suzuki Group plants and products by 2050.
The equipment will save the company almost HUF 270 million annually and reduce indirect carbon dioxide emissions by more than 1,700 tons. The company plans to expand further with solar panels to cover 30-50% of its energy needs.
The maximum installed capacity of the installed power plant is 3,223 kWp, of which 2,397.5 kWp is the available capacity. On an annual basis, 3.1 million kWh of the 3.2 million kWh of annual energy that can be produced can be used.
In addition to the solar farm, heat pumps will also help to cool and heat parts of the production since 2022. Three such installations are used in the painting plant and one each in the buffer plant and the operations department.
They use waste heat from the process to contribute to the cooling and heating of the production areas, as well as to the production of the social hot water for the entire factory.
