This Tuesday, Hungarian Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga signed a financing greement with Budapest’s public transport company BKV, under which 20 Hungarian-made electric midibuses and the necessary charger technology will be purchased.
Addressing the ceremony, Mihály Varga hailed the beginning of a 'new era' in the city’s transport, to benefit “the people of Budapest, the Hungarian industry, and bus making”. Under the agreement, the government will provide a grant of 4 billion forints (EUR 12.6m) to purchase the buses. The new vehicles will be put into service before mid-May next year, the Hungarian news agency MTI reports.
