The new 16,600-square-meter state-of-the-art production hall of the internationally owned ZF Chassis Modules Hungary was inaugurated in the Kecskemét Premium Industrial Park (KEPI) this Thursday.
The state-of-the-art manufacturing building, developed by leading industrial real estate specialist Panattoni Hungary, was built under a build-to-suit (BTS) agreement with ZF Chassis Modules Hungary as a joint investment between KEPI and the Kecskemét Urban Development Fund and Kecskemét Enterprise Development Fund, with EUR 14.6 million financing from Oberbank. According to the announcement, the production hall will use environmentally friendly technology to manufacture axle modules for Mercedes.
The plant was completed one month ahead of schedule and KEPI carried out a significant upgrade of utilities and roads on the site in parallel with the construction of the hall, with the involvement of local businesses. The production hall is in the process of obtaining Breeam Excellent certification, which also meets strict sustainability criteria.
The new production plant of ZF Chassis Modules Hungary in Kecskemét not only uses state-of-the-art production technologies, but also meets significant sustainability targets.
In the production area of the plant, front and rear axle modules for electric vehicles are manufactured in a fully automated way. The production process generates no local CO2 emissions and the building is heated by electric heat pumps. The plant will create more than 450 new jobs in Kecskemét, and ZF Chassis Modules Hungary is planning further developments to increase production capacity. The investment was made in close cooperation with the local municipality with the intention of supporting Mercedes' expansion strategy.
"The handover of the Kecskemét plant ahead of schedule is a good example of the highly effective cooperation we have developed with Panattoni, the investing partners and the local community. Special thanks go to the municipality and the mayor of Kecskemét for their support," Csaba Varjassy, plant manager of ZF Chassis Modules Hungary Ltd. said.
"This is a special moment for us, as we entered the Hungarian market three years ago, at a difficult time. Today, we can see that the difficulties have brought new opportunities, and with persistent work, excellent partners and well-prepared professionals, we have been able to implement an investment that has created value in every respect. The inauguration of the high-tech production hall of ZF Chassis Modules Hungary is a recognition of this joint work," László Kemenes, Managing Director of Panattoni Hungary, pointed out.
