The investment of the telecommunications company Optiwella was opened on Monday in the south-eastern Hungarian city of Szeged. The HUF 860 million development has created a new generation of service and production capacity in the plant, which processes and refurbishes a variety of devices, and was needed to improve international competitiveness. The project was supported by Hungarian taxpayers through a HUF 500 million grant of state subsidy.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, these improvements open up the possibility for the company to join the global circular chip supply chain in innovative sectors such as automotive, in addition to telecommunications.
Optiwella is a leading DOCSIS cable modem and CMTS distributor. It primarily offers premium quality refurbished cable modems and CMTS at a fraction of the new price, while maintaining an optimal user experience. The company has served more than 1,000 customers on six continents since its founding in 2011.
At their Szeged site, they have their own processing plant, a high-tech test lab and a stock of more than 400,000 items to serve their customers around the world every day.
