Waberer's International is to acquire a 55% stake in Serbian distributor MD International and an option to buy the remaining 45%, the company announced on the Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE) website on Friday. The purchase price of the transaction was not disclosed.
According to the statement, MDI is a major player in the Serbian FMCG (daily consumer goods) distribution market, with its main activities being road transport and warehousing.
The company had revenues of EUR 50.3 million in 2022, EBIT (earnings before interest and income tax expenses) of EUR 2.1 million and a profit after tax of EUR 1.7 million.
The transaction will be financed by Waberer's from the 2022 bond issue, in line with the objectives set at the time of the bond issue.
The acquisition fits well into Waberer's portfolio and effectively supports its strategic goal to become the market-leading complex logistics provider in the region," the statement quoted Zsolt Barna, CEO of Waberer's International.
The parties have agreed to cooperate on further investments, highlighted by the planned joint warehouse development, which could be the basis for further growth and even more efficient logistics operations, the statement said.
