With EU support and an investment of around HUF 1.4 billion, Zoll-Platz Ltd. is to build a new logistics center in the outskirts of Szeged, SE Hungary, the company’s Managing Director Péter Csonka said on Wednesday.
At a press conference to present the investment, which will be completed by next summer with a subsidy of HUF 313 million, the expert said that due to the pandemic, the need for local warehousing is growing as a result of problems in supply chains.
It is in response to these needs that the company has decided to build a new facility in an area located close to both the M43 and M5 motorways and bordered by a railway siding connected to the Szeged-Hódmezővásárhely railway line.
In the first phase of the project, a 2,890 m² sandwich panel building will be constructed, which will include office and social areas in addition to storage space. Five buildings with docking bays for trucks will be equipped with three 50 kW solar panels, which will also supply the energy needs of the center and the electric charging stations to be installed in the car parks. The second phase of the development will include the construction of a 2,500 m² warehouse.
In addition to EU funding, the costs of the development will be covered by own resources and a Széchenyi investment loan.
Zoll-Platz Ltd. has been serving its customers as a customs agency since 1991. The company, which employs more than 120 people and provides a full range of customs services, operates the only customs yard in Csongrád-Csanád county, has branch offices at four border crossing points and also provides warehousing and logistics services to its partners.
