Transport company Waberer's, which regularly participates in the delivery of donations to the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service throughout the year, has dressed its truck in festive lights. This year, the company donated HUF 20 million to the charity in the form of sweets for 10,000 children in need on December 6, which is Santa Claus day in Hungary. The gifts are delivered by an illuminated truck. The donation, totaling more than 26,000 pieces of sweets, is one of the Group's most significant donations during the festive period.
For years, the Waberer's Group and the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service have been working together, and now they are preparing for Santa Claus day with a special collaboration.
"The Group's subsidiary, WSZL, is a strategic logistics partner of the Maltese Relief Service, helping to store and deliver donations to various locations across the country. Over the years, they have implemented a number of unusual joint initiatives, and this year's Santa Claus campaign has taken the cooperation to a new level," Zsolt Barna, CEO of Waberer's Group, said.
This December, the truck that delivers Maltese donations throughout the year received a new look – festive lighting. In addition to the exterior, the load was also unusual: Waberer's is sending a total of 26,845 pieces of sweets to the charity to make the festive season brighter for as many children as possible.
The Waberer's Group also organized an in-house fundraising campaign for this year's campaign, with colleagues collecting a total of 750 pieces of Santa Claus chocolate figures and other sweets. In addition, the company donated a further six pallets of chocolates – the same number as the number of member companies in the Group – bringing the total to almost 27,000 pieces of festive sweets.
Head of Communications at Maltese Relief Service, Tamás Romhányi, pointed out that "ten thousand children will benefit from the Waberer's Group donation, and the parcels will be delivered to the poorest small villages, to Maltese institutions supporting families and to families cared for by our volunteer groups helping people in difficult circumstances in the coming days. The Hungarian Maltese Relief Service is grateful to the logistics company not only for the donations of pallets, but also for the collection campaign among its employees and for enabling hundreds of employees to help others, i.e. to do good."
