The most interesting moments of the last two hundred years of shipping in the capital are presented at the new, 'Budapest on the Danube. Pictures from the 200 years of shipping in Budapest' exhibition at the Hungarian Museum of Science, Technology and Transport.
In the summer of 1820, Carolina, the first steamer suitable for passenger transport, began operating between Buda, Pest and the Danube bank of Óbuda. Its anniversary can also be seen as the opening of public transport in the capital. The exhibition, opened on the Kossuth Museum Boat near the Vigadó tér stop of tram line 2, follows the connection and history of Budapest and boat transport, from the first attempts to the present day.
