Following a journey of 13,645 kilometers by bike and on foot, Hungarian adventurer Viktor Zichó completed his mission of traveling from Hungary to Darjeeling, India, following the route taken some two centuries ago by Hungarian explorer Sándor Kőrösi Csoma.
Viktor Zichó set out from Komárom, NW Hungary last summer to follow the path taken by the linguist and Tibetologist Sándor Kőrösi Csoma at the beginning of the 19th century. The expedition officially began at Kőrösi Csoma's birthplace, Csomakőrös, now in Romanian territory, and continued through the Middle East and Central Asia to Darjeeling in the Indian Himalayas.
He told the news portal index.hu that throughout his journey he had difficulties but he met many friendly people, as well. From Pakistan, he crossed to India but then, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, he had to spend weeks in a hospital some 500 kilometers from his destination. Eventually, he escaped and ended his mission successfully.
