This summer in Szeged, SE Hungary, will not be without the traditional Open-Air Festival, either. The organizers announced that after the restrictions were eased, preparations could restart, so, except for a single change, the audience can see the originally announced productions .
The season begins on July 17 with Händel's comedy opera 'Agrippina', followed by a comedy on July 24 and 25: 'The Bachelor Party', a piece popular in a Budapest theater. The program continues with the Moliére comedy 'The Middle Class Gentleman', followed by the magical family fairy tale ballet 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'.
These productions will take place on the Újszeged Open-Air Stage but the traditional venue on Dóm Square (with the usual summer temporary stage and auditorium set up in front of the cathedral ) will not be left empty, either - although, productions will be staged in accordance with the epidemic situation, not with the usual stage and number of spectators. On July 24, a morality play entitled 'Anyone' a classic at the Salzburg Festival, the Szeged Open-Air Festival was originally modeled on. In addition, a symphony orchestra concert on August 15 will enrich this year’s offerings.
In this difficult situation, the organizers consider it especially important that culture is accessible to everyone, som this year, both Dóm Square productions can be viewed free of charge by spectators.
