The supply of consumers was ensured during the heating period, as by the end of the storage period, more than 6.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas were available in the storage facilities, and on the last day of the autumn, on November 30, there were plenty of 6 billion cubic meters.
However, a statement by the Hungarian Energy and Utilities Regulatory Authority says, not only the natural gas sector, but also the electricity and district heating sectors have prepared for the colder months to maintain security of supply.
The Authority has been preparing information for the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM) for many years. It states what measures electricity system operators (MAVIR), large power plants (above 50 MW) and network licensees ('electricity suppliers') are preparing for the winter.
This year's prospectus states that the planned maintenance works of the power generation facilities were carried out according to schedule, the only remaining maintenance at the Paks Nuclear Power Plant is going according to plan, and the Mátra Power Plant has undergone advanced maintenance. The power plants have the required fuel safety stock, and there were no security of supply or capacity loss concerns in the winter preparations. The licensees' pandemic plans were updated based on the spring experience. Protective measures due to the epidemic are in place.
