A Solaris hydrogen-powered bus is being tested in the capital by ArrivaBus Ltd., the operator of the Center for Budapest Transport (BKK). The vehicle, which will produce water instead of exhaust gas, will be available to the Budapest public on the No. 105 bus line between March 16 and 18. The bus can be test by everyone for free during the three-day trial.
Solaris' revolutionary Urbino 12 hydrogen-powered low-floor bus is 15 meters long and has 37 seats. The vehicle is unique in that it emits water instead of exhaust gas, making it completely emission-free. The test bus is extremely quiet, can travel more than 350 kilometers on a single charge and can be refueled in a matter of minutes – just like in the case of fossil fuels.
ArrivaBus Kft., a member of the Deutsche Bahn Group and present throughout Europe, has been involved in public transport in Budapest for more than 20 years. The company is committed to the testing and deployment of environmentally friendly vehicles and is doing its utmost to bring zero-emission vehicles to Budapest, for the time being for testing purposes, a statement by BKK says.
