Better air, more shade, a more pleasant school environment. In the spirit of a commitment to a sustainable future, a joint tree-planting program was implemented in cooperation between Provident Financial Ltd., the ReGreenX project and the municipality of Szeged, a city in SE Hungary.
The courtyard of the Bonifert Domonkos Elementary School was enriched with dozens of saplings thanks to a HUF one million contribution from the financial services provider whose employees also actively participated in planting the saplings. The significance of the tree-planting goes far beyond beautifying the schoolyard: the newly planted trees improve air quality, reduce the urban heat island effect, provide shade for the students, and remind them day after day of the importance of preserving natural resources.
As a key player in the Hungarian financial market, Provident Financial Ltd. has long been committed to making a meaningful contribution to the lives of local communities beyond its business activities. Its environmental protection program, called ProviGreen, is a key element of this commitment.
Szeged is a particularly important location in the life of the financial services provider; for example, the company’s administrative center is located here, responsible for providing Provident with comprehensive domestic administrative support. This close connection is also evident in the company’s environmental commitment: in 2024, Provident also contributed to the tree-planting initiative in Erzsébet Park in the Újszeged area of the city.
Attila Horváth, Chief Financial Officer of Provident Financial Ltd. and head of the ProviGreen program, pointed out that “Provident is present throughout the country not only as a financial services provider but also as a responsible social actor. We are proud to have once again implemented an initiative in Szeged that serves the local community – this is the mission of the ProviGreen program. The trees we have just planted will accompany the daily lives of thousands of students for decades, creating a green and inspiring environment for learning and shared experiences.” The CFO symbolically presented at the event a check for HUF 1 million to school principal Beáta Zsuzsanna Nyiri Kocsis, representative of the Makkosházi Elementary School Foundation.
