Vodafone Hungary has announced it will assist the National Laboratory of Security Technologies of the National Public Service University (NKE) as a consortium partner.
The unit conducts research and development in areas such as technology-based security issues affecting institutions, municipalities and border management, as well as cybersecurity and 5G. The operation of the laboratory will be supported by Vodafone Hungary in the future, a letter of intent about this cooperation has been signed by the company and the higher education institution.
In the fall of 2020, the National Civil Service University established the National Laboratory of Security Technologies (BTNL) program. The nationwide research site deals with integrated research and related innovations on the three pillars of technology-based security, institutional security, settlement security and border security. BTNL also conducts research and development in two other areas, cyber security and 5G.
According to Dr. Anita Orbán, Vodafone Hungary's Deputy CEO for Corporate Relations, it is essential that innovations in the field of security keep pace with the continuous development of technology. “At Vodafone, it is important for us to support initiatives that promote the digital development of society. I believe that as a responsible technology company, we have a duty to do everything we can to help researchers and professionals who can do a lot for the digital security of all of us with their innovative solutions," she said.
Vodafone Hungary has been providing professional and financial support for innovation projects of Hungarian higher education institutions and the young generation for many years. Last year, the frm helped set up an experimental 5G network and 5G laboratory at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and this year, they contributed high-tech equipment to the cyber security training of the University of Óbuda and also supported a design thinking course at the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts.
