The Waberer's Group wants to improve the proportion of women working in logistics, particularly in management positions. For the second time, the transport company has therefore announced the Women's Logistics Manager of the Year Award, in partnership with the magazine Navigator World. This year, there was a split first place, with Ágota Balogh, CEO of Royal Sped Plc. and Judit Palicska, Managing Director of Waberer's Network Kft. And increasing female presence is also important in the junior sector, so a new category winner was announced this year, with Nikolett Zámbó from Waberer's Group receiving the Young Female Logistics Professional of the Year award.
This year, women who have excelled in logistics were again honored: the Female Logistics Professional of the Year Award 2023 was established as a tradition by the Waberer's Group and the professional media Navigator World. The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of gender equality and to promote the presence of women in the logistics sector, as well as to open up new opportunities for talented female managers.
The winners were selected again this year by a professional jury from nearly 40 applications received through a call for nominations. The recommendation had to include the nominee's professional career, achievements and what qualities or achievements make the professional stand out in the world of logistics. The impact they have had on their local or wider community was also an important criterion in selecting the winners.
Ágota Balogh, CEO of Royal Sped Plc. and Judit Palicska, Managing Director of Waberer's Network Ltd. were named Women Logistics Professional of the Year 2024, with a shared first place.
"This year's field was extremely strong, with many valuable entries. We are delighted that more and more people are applying for the Women's Logistics Professional of the Year Award, and this initiative is a way of raising awareness of this industry and the opportunities and exciting jobs it offers. We want to see more women in logistics and more people looking at it as an attractive career option. The situation is improving, but according to a survey abroad, logistics is still a male-dominated industry, with the overall representation of women in the industry ranging from 39-41% and the proportion of female managers at just 15%. These figures highlight the importance of our award and the initiatives we are taking to further encourage and support women in the sector," according to Dorottya Varga, Head of Marketing and PR at Waberer's Group and the main organizer of the competition.
