From Monday, June 15, all healthcare services can be provided without restrictions while maintaining anti-epidemic preparedness, the Minister of Human Capacities announced at a press conference in Budapest on Friday.
Minister Miklós Kásler said that in the case of hospitals, this means that 80% of the beds previously set aside for the care of coronavirus-infected people can be re-used for other treatments, but 20% should still be reserved for the care of COVID patients.
In the case of outpatient and primary care, healthcare services can be resumed from Monday without a time limit, so the regulation requiring the limit of four patients per hour will be abolished, the minister explained.
However, specialist appointments should still be requested by phone, pre-triasis should be performed in health care facilities, and suspected patients should be monitored with a PCR test and assisted in obtaining a diagnosis, he pointed out.
Miklós Kásler also said that as soon as parliament revokes the emergency situation law, healthcare workers will be allowed to travel abroad in the same way as other Hungarian citizens.
Answering a question, he was of the view that the Hungarian healthcare system can make up for the backlog due to the postponed interventions in about two months.
