The perception of the European Union is basically positive both in the EU and in Hungary. Almost half of people in Hungary have a positive opinion of the EU, and just over one in seven have a negative opinion, according to the latest findings by Eurobarometer that regularly conducts public opinion surveys on behalf of the European Commission and other EU Institutions.

Hungarians continue to have confidence in the European Union (58%), which is higher than the EU average (47%). Respondents in Hungary continue to trust the EU institutions; this trust is particularly high for the European Parliament (61%) and the European Commission (60%), outperforming the EU average, according to the Hungarian national report of the Eurobarometer 2021-2022 Winter Standard Edition summarized by the business news site napi.hu.

Six out of ten Hungarians believe that the European Union takes Hungary's interests into account.

Hungarians are more strongly attached to the European Union than the average EU citizen. They think the EU's greatest achievement is the free movement of people, goods and services within the EU.

Hungarians are most concerned about the economy, health and immigration.

Health is the second most important issue facing Hungary, according to Hungarian respondents. Currently, immigration is the most important problem for the European Union according to Hungarians, and although slightly less serious, environmental protection and climate change are also cited as more of an EU problem.

In the European Green Deal, which consists of measures to protect the environment and combat climate change, the development of renewable energy should be the main priority, according to Hungarians.
