Hungarian kayakers paddled to two gold medals at the London Olympics on Wednesday. Victories in the men's kayak double in 1,000 meters and the women's kayak four in 500 produced the 5th and 6th gold for Hungary at this Olympics.

The Hungarian kayaker pair of Rudolf Dombi and Roland Kökény won the men's kayak double 1,000-meter event with a photo finish - a mere 0.053 seconds - ahead the Portuguese duo of Fernando Pimenta and Emanuel Silva with Germany coming in third.

Hungary's second gold medal of the day came within ten minutes! Gabriella Szabó, Danuta Kozák, Katalin Kovács and Krisztina Fazekas-Zur in the Hungarian women's kayak four produced a succesful finish and won this 500-meter event almost half a second ahead of Germany and Belarus.

Also on Wednesday, the Hungarian men's handball team defeated Beijing 2008 runners-up Iceland in the quarterfinals 34-33 after two extra time periods.
