Krisztina Bogdán has been appointed the new CEO of ING Bank from November 4, 2024, taking over the post from Gyula Réthy, the bank's interim CFO since July 1, after Tibor Bodor, CEO, left the bank at the end of June, the company told MTI on Monday.
With more than 25 years of experience in banking, Krisztina Bogdán was head of corporate finance at consultancy Credit Management Group before his appointment.
Before that, she spent nearly a decade as deputy CEO and member of the board of Commerzbank Plc.'s Hungarian subsidiary until the end of November 2022.
Previously, she headed the Czech and Slovak units of the German financial institution as Country Manager and was Managing Director of Trade Finance and Transaction Services at Commerzbank Plc.
Erik Fortgens, Head of ING's Corporate Banking Division, Central and Eastern Europe Network, said in a statement that with more than 25 years of experience, Krisztina Bogdán can significantly contribute to strengthening the role of Hungary in achieving ING's strategic goals.
According to the report available on the bank's website, ING Bank N.V. Hungary's total comprehensive income under IFRS was HUF 12.4 billion in 2022 and HUF 11.3 billion in 2023.
Operating income continued to increase slightly (by 2%), while costs and expenses increased on average by 11% in 2023. The branch ended one of its strongest financial years in 2022, with 2023 just behind.
The bank's total assets decreased from HUF 903 billion to HUF 787 billion. The number of employees increased to 131 from 124 it had on December 31, 2022.
