8.170.413 people are eligible to vote in 3.177 settlements (169 in towns with over 10.000 inhabitants) at this Sunday’s municipal elections in Hungary. In Budapest, mayor István Tarlós (who refused to participate in a debate with his opponents) is challenged by four candidates.
8.014 candidates are running for 3.177 mayoral positions (including 136 of them for the top job in Budapest’s 23 districts). Altogether, the number of candidates in the country is over 59.000.
