At the World Expo 2025, which will be held between April 13 and October 13, 2025 with the participation of 161 countries and 9 international organizations, the Hungarian pavilion will mainly be responsible for the development of the country's image and the presentation of Hungarian gastronomy.

The Expo 2025 Hungary Nonprofit Ltd. sent a statement to MTI on Monday, in which it was pointed out that the Osaka World Expo is also the world's largest tourist market, therefore a successful Hungarian participation could significantly increase inbound tourism. In addition to tourism, the Hungarian presence can also bring a significant boost to business relations and investments. After all, Hungary is one of Japan's most important economic partners in Central Europe, while last year, the East Asian region attracted the most investment to Hungary.

At a press conference in Tokyo, Ákos Kristó, Managing Director of EXPO 2025 Hungary Nonprofit Ltd., was of the view that participating in the World Expo in Osaka offers a unique opportunity for Hungary. Japan is a key economic partner for Hungary, as more than 180 companies from this country alone are present in the country, with an estimated capital investment of EUR 3.2 billion and approximately 32,000 employees.

The Hungarian Pavilion building has been designed with a view to promoting the economy and the country's image. The multi-story building has a separate floor of over 100 square meters dedicated to the economic development area. Another important function of the building is to showcase Hungarian gastronomy, with a bistro on the first floor of the pavilion serving classic Hungarian dishes and an adjacent wine bar offering products from the country's wine regions.

A visitor shop has been set up at the last point of the exhibition space, where visitors can buy souvenirs and Hungarian handicraft products. These features are designed to showcase and promote Hungarian products and thus also serve the purpose of market development, Ákos Kristó said.

The main attraction of the Hungarian pavilion is the ever-changing theater space, which creates the experience of being close to nature and Hungary. A live folk music performance will be staged here for 184 days. At the same time, the Hungarian pavilion aims to attract the attention of the World Expo audience with its design. The architectural concept is inspired by the natural building materials and construction methods found in both Japanese and Hungarian folk architecture, the statement said.
