Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny is on a working visit to Hungary as part of traveling the member states of the European Union on the occasion that Ireland is due to take over the rotating Presidency of the EU as of January 1, 2013.
The Irish Prime Minister met with Hungarian politicians – including his Hungarian counterpart – and stated at a press conference that hopefully, the current Cypriot presidency - despite the various interests of the member states, - manages to close the next multi-annual (2014-2020) framework for negotiations on the EU budget, and thus, he Irish Presidency may deal with other important issues.
Enda Kenny remarked that in his country, there are about 15 thousand Hungarians working and contributing to Ireland's economic performance. The Irish prime minister has expressed his gratitude to Hungary that during the Libyan crisis last year, the Hungarian Embassy remained open and continued to work in Tripoli, helping so many EU citizens, including many Irish.
