New minister nominated in Hungarian government

The Hungarian Minister of National Resources, Miklós Réthelyi resigned from his post this week and the State Seretary for Social Inclusion in another ministry, Zoltán Balog was nominated as the new minister by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

Zoltán Balog (born in 1958) has a theologian degree with some of his studies conducted in Germany. He is a Reformed Church pastor, although, he suspended that activity for the duration of political career. Until assuming the post of minister (following a compulsory procedure of parliamentary hearings) he continues as State Secretary for Social Inclusion in the Ministry of Administration and Justice where he has worked since June 2010.

He has been a Member of Parliament since 2006. He functioned as Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, Minority, Civic and Religious Affairs between 2006 and 2010
