Hungarian Women Qualify for the Olympics in Handball

The Hungarian women's handball team made it to the Tokyo Olympics postponed to this summer as Russia defeated Kazakhstan 33-26 in Saturday's second round of the qualifying tournament.

This result at the qualification tournament in Győr, NW Hungary decided that the Hungarians would finish in one of the first two places that are worth Olympic participation.

Hungary defeated Kazakhstan 46-19 on Friday and won 31-23 against Serbia on Saturday. Thus, the match starting on Sunday evening against defending Olympic champions Russia will be without a stake..

The Hungarian women's national team made it to the Olympics again after finishing fourth in Beijing in 2008. This year will be the seventh time Hungarian women handballers participate in the Olympic Games.
