Domestic aviation fuel supply is stable and uninterrupted, the oil and gas company Mol announced. According to its statement, the company is continuously ensuring the necessary kerosene supply for airports and their partners, supply chains are operating securely, and no disruptions are expected, the news portal telex.hu reported this Monday.
The site also quotes from the Mol communiqué that the company’s refineries and logistics systems are operating at adequate capacity, enabling the company to handle market challenges and potential international supply difficulties, and that it is doing everything possible to ensure that services continue to operate reliably.
HungaroControl CEO Ferenc Turi told another Hungarian news site, 24.hu, that the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz means that approximately 20% of Europe’s kerosene supply is currently unaccounted for. According to him, while there is kerosene, there is not enough of it. This year’s traffic was planned with an additional 6-7% increase, so there isn’t enough kerosene not only for this but also for 2025 traffic. According to Turi, it may become clear around July whether the industry’s crisis will deepen further.
Following Mol’s statement, Wizz Air also firmly refuted “the speculations made by the CEO of HungaroControl, according to which continuous flight cancellations should be expected during the summer due to a kerosene shortage.” The company said its fuel supply is stable and secure, and its operations are not threatened by any supply disruptions.
