The Maltese airline Universal Air will operate two flights a week on the Malta-Pécs-Munich route from March 26, the company told MTI on Thursday.
The company said in a statement that its flights using the Pécs airport will operate on the Malta-Munich route on Tuesdays and Fridays between March 26 and October 22, with a stopover in the southern Hungarian city of Pécs.
According to information provided, the airline launched its regional services to the wider Mediterranean region at the beginning of March, using its Dash 8-400 aircraft.
They also stated that in the coming weeks, the company will announce additional destinations, with flights to Athens, Palermo, Ibiza and Corfu.
According to an earlier announcement by the municipality of Pécs, the start of a scheduled air service from the airport near the city will be possible again after 18 years thanks to the local authority's joint efforts with the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the university to find a way to connect the Baranya County seat with southern Germany by air.
Last week, the news portal timesofmalta.com reported that Universal Air is a newcomer to the air transport market and will start scheduled passenger services with the flights that are now being launched.
