Liquid restrictions at Liszt Ferenc International Airport may also be abolished in the near future. The airport management company Budapest Airport is already testing CT equipment that will allow larger quantities of liquids to be brought on board.
Liquid restrictions often cause inconvenience to passengers and slow down the check-in process. Budapest Airport informed the Hungarian news portal 24.hu that the measures related to passenger security checks, such as the restriction on the amount of liquids that can be taken on board, are also justified by aviation security and EU regulations.
In Budapest, there is currently an X-ray machine for screening hand luggage that does not allow for the screening of larger quantities of liquids. It will be possible to deviate from the 10×100 ml limit once the airport has installed CT equipment for screening cabin baggage, which will allow for the effective screening of larger quantities of liquids.
Recently, Milan-Linatei, Rome-Fiumicino and London-City have also announced the abolition of the liquid restriction. The CT equipment is equipped with a special explosive detection system. The machine scanners can provide the highest level of screening security.
As described, the X-ray scanners in the CT system at Rome Fiumicino International Airport produce high-resolution 3D images of baggage, which automatically detect potentially dangerous substances.
