Hungarian soldiers would be involved in efforts to guarantee security during the Euro 2012 European soccer championship, co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine, a Hungarian military official announced on the first day of the tournament.
As requested by NATO, Hungary's Air Control Headquarters in Veszprém receive real-time images of the two countries' air space and relay them to the appropriate units of the military alliance, Lt.-Col. Miklós Karajz said.
Should any contingency arise in Polish or Ukrainian air space, the center will provide up-to-date information to all competent persons, enabling them to react accordingly, he added.
