The state of healthcare, financial/political corruption and poverty – these are the three biggest worries of Hungarians according to a new international poll by Ipsos.
56% Hungarians worry about health problems (this being the highest value globally), but corruption (54%, also the highest value in the world) and poverty (49%, third highest value after Russia and China) are also 'on the podium' of things people are concerned about. Unemployment, which occupies the second place in the world, is still not a pounding fear for Hungarians (26% mention, its weight has not changed in recent months either), portfolio.hu says in its summary.
By July, the coronavirus, the world's most worrying problem, is only the seventh most burning threat to Hungarian citizens (15% is the lowest mention rate among the 27 countries measured).
Looking at the values of the last eight years, it can be stated that the weight of concerns about health, corruption and poverty among the most important problems affecting Hungarians is starting to level off, while the fear of rising unemployment in parallel with the spread of COVID-19 seems to stabilize below 30%.
The poll also suggests that the top three countries where the most respondents say their nation is on the wrong track in general are Chile (84%), South Africa (79%) and Hungary (77%).
