As one of the biggest investors in Hungary, Samsung SDI was the first prominent role-player in the domestic electro-mobility industry, putting this plant on the world map through their investment decision, and also drawing the attention of other significant automotive suppliers to Hungary, who have also established local companies here in the past years. Today, the production and expansion are taking place at the same time. The green future
As Samsung SDI’s products contribute to the spread of environmentally friendly transport and sustainable mobility, the company places great emphasis on protecting the environment for future generations and focusing on sustainable solutions. Samsung SDI has sought to achieve the goals of eco-value by developing greener products, strengthening eco-friendly cooperation with suppliers, and developing manufacturing processes that can cause minimal impact to the environment. The company pursues life cycle thinking in the whole process of designing environment-friendly products, which embodies product planning, development, and design phases. Samsung SDI against deep-sea mining
Samsung SDI is among the first global companies to have signed up to a World Wildlife Fund (WWF) call for a moratorium on deep-sea mining. South Korea's Samsung SDI is the first battery maker to participate in WWF's initiative. This is a big step forward for the company, because the metals needed to make batteries can be extracted from the seabed. Samsung SDI commits not to source any minerals from the seabed, to exclude such minerals from their supply chains, and not to finance deep seabed mining activities.
