The statue of the Wonder Stag has been unveiled in a ceremony in the garden of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) Supervision Center and Money Museum in Budapest. The sculpture symbolizes renewal, guidance, the search for abundance and happiness, and is a symbol of the mission of the Money Museum to develop financial awareness, according to an MNB statement.
Opened this spring, the Money Museum aims to provide an insight into the world of money. In the year it opened, it has already welcomed more than 62,000 visitors and hosted a number of events, competitions and conferences for students and families.
The symbol of the Money Museum, the Wonder Stag, created by Gábor Szőke, representing renewal, upliftment and abundance, is linked to the institution's mission of value creation and the meaning of money. The Wonder Stag motif has already appeared as the logo of the Money Museum in the spring, and is repeatedly used in the building during the visitor itinerary.
Observers note that the gigantic 4.5-meter-high and 7.2-meter-long Wonder Stag statue, which stands on a 6.5-meter-high bronze base representing a rock was commissioned by MNB from the sculptor for HUF 199.5 million without a tender. Altogether, MNB has ordered sculptures from Gábor Szőke for a total of HUF one billion.
