Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) and Bosch Hungary have agreed to continue their cooperation for another five years, opening up new perspectives in the field of AI development in Hungary, the two organizations announced in a joint statement to MTI on Tuesday.
They emphasized that their long-term strategic goal is for Hungary's first artificial intelligence industrial department (which was established in 2020 at ELTE's Faculty of Informatics with the support and partnership of the Bosch Group in Hungary) to become the most recognized applied artificial intelligence industrial department in Central and Eastern Europe.
The department is currently collaborating with its founding partners on nearly 30 different R&D topics. The department's research contributes to the development and industrial application of innovative systems that increasingly mimic self-driving vehicles, machine vision, drone technology, robotics, and human brain function, among other things.
According to the announcement, thanks to the ELTE-Bosch collaboration, university students can gain practical experience and competitive professional knowledge at the department. Over the past five years, 250 students have enrolled in the Artificial Intelligence specialization led by the department, 81 of whom have so far obtained a master's degree.
In connection with the training, the department offers 34 courses related to artificial intelligence, as well as the opportunity to participate in various industrial and research projects. In the next academic year, a European Union double degree master's program will also be launched, focusing on emotional artificial intelligence.
In addition to providing professional and industrial know-how, Bosch has also played a role in developing the educational and community spaces of the industrial artificial intelligence department. The company also supports students with scholarships and various grants.
Through the Neumann program of the ELTE Faculty of Informatics, it supports talented students in the bachelor's program, while in the master's program, the BEST – Bosch Engineering Scholarship Team scholarship program provides financial assistance and professional mentoring to ambitious students who demonstrate outstanding performance.
