The new site of the waste treatment and recycling company Saubermacher-Hungary Ltd. in Kecskemét was inaugurated this week. It was built with an investment of HUF 1.5 billion, with the support of the Hungarian state, which provided around HUF 256 million (17%) of the investment costs.
Péter Horváth, Managing Director of Saubermacher-Magyarország Ltd., emphasized that the new site is a milestone in the regional presence of their company. It is an important and indispensable step in putting the circular economy into practice. This is why they consider their contribution to industrial production without waste generation a priority, he added.
Founded more than 40 years ago, in 1979, the Austrian Saubermacher Group is a public service provider for 1,600 municipalities, with 3,600 employees and an annual waste treatment volume of 3.5 million tons. With an annual turnover of EUR 370 million, the company, which has been present in Hungary since 1989, takes care of 220,000 tons of waste a year at six sites with 223 employees and 48 trucks. The Hungarian company had a turnover of more than HUF 10 billion last year.
At the Kecskemét site, which covers an area of three hectares, 30,000 tons of waste are handled annually by 29 trucks. The company also operates a new waste treatment facility in Kecskemét, where hazardous and non-hazardous waste is collected, pre-treated and recycled. As a logistics and plastics processing centre, the company employs nearly 90 people at the Kecskemét site.
According to publicly available company data, the sales revenue of Saubermacher-Hungary Ltd. was more than HUF 7.1 billion last year, compared to around HUF 5.1 billion a year earlier. In 2021, the company closed with a profit of HUF 607 million, while in 2020 it had a profit after tax of HUF 555 million.
