Logistics service provider Dachser, strengthening its Kecskemét branch in east central Hungary, has launched a new direct transport route between that city and the Bulgarian capital Sofia, the Hungarian subsidiary told MTI in a statement on Thursday.
Liegl & Dachser Forwarding and Logistics Ltd. pointed out that the accession of Romania and Bulgaria to the Schengen area has a significant impact on international freight forwarding, as goods can reach their destinations faster and more smoothly, reducing transport time and costs.
In response to the expected increase in trade relations and customer demand, Dachser Hungary has decided to integrate its Kecskemét site even more intensively into the freight forwarding bloodstream and to launch a direct service to Sofia, they stressed.
“Dachser's Kecskemét site moved to a new, modern facility at the end of 2023, where it offers warehouse logistics in addition to transport services. This development has significantly increased the capacity and efficiency of the site, while also allowing for their development, for example with the new direct route to Sofia starting on February 7," the company's sales manager Tamás Malomhegyi was quoted as saying, adding that the new direct route will allow goods to reach their destination faster and safer, as less transshipment is required.
It is not only customers in the Kecskemét area who will benefit from the new service, as the complex system of groupage will allow faster delivery to Bulgaria from all over Hungary and even from the Central European region. Dachser expects that Kecskemét will thus also be able to function as a smaller logistics hub in the future.
