Hyundai Motor is launching the first global pilot project for the Shucle transportation platform in Hungary as part of the Economic Innovation Partnership Program (EIPP) between South Korea and Hungary. The aim of the project is to support public transport by minimizing empty runs and reducing harmful emissions, Hyundai Holding Hungary Ltd. told MTI.
The artificial intelligence-based development is a demand-responsive transportation platform that optimizes vehicle operation by taking real-time customer needs into account. During the pilot project, it will help improve public transportation in Gödöllő, making it more efficient with sustainability in mind.
The city's public transport network currently operates five buses on 12 routes. Between August 18 and October 31, the town's bus service will be expanded with two new vehicles, whose optimal operation will be supported by the platform, which has been adapted to the conditions of the area in cooperation with local service providers.
According to the announcement, Shucle enables dynamic route planning and flexible vehicle sharing, resulting in fewer empty runs and less harmful emissions, shorter waiting times, and improved operational efficiency of the transport system.
In its announcement, Hyundai said it is confident that its initiative will contribute to sustainable transportation and become a modern alternative to traditional public transportation. South Korea has been successfully using Shucle in urban and suburban mobility services since 2021, and the Gödöllő project could lay the foundation for its international expansion. This will be the first time the platform has been tested outside the Far East, and if it proves successful, it could reach new markets worldwide and be introduced in Hungarian towns and cities, according to the statement.
