Compared with the previous month, passenger traffic at Liszt Ferenc International Airport grew threefold in July: while 84,781 passengers used the airport in June, this figure increased to 304,596 in July.
Although this represents an 81% drop versus July 2019, the latest data clearly demonstrates the gradual return of propensity to travel, thanks to new and re-launched scheduled services and the increasingly extensive range of destinations offered, the airport management company Budapest Airport says in its latest bulletin.
On the other hand, passengers are regaining trust in safe travelling, due to the airport operator’s diligent and proven hygiene measures and distancing concepts. In August, 500 direct flights per week are available in Budapest to 98 destinations. As far as cargo is concerned, Liszt Ferenc International Airport handled 10,695 tons of air cargo in July 2020.
Passengers at Liszt Ferenc International Airport are checked in accordance with the effective regulations detailed in the relevant government decree and authority requirements. During the immigration procedure passengers arriving from countries in the yellow and red categories are processed in a separate area. Thus, passengers under quarantine obligation are not in contact with passengers arriving from green countries.
