This fall marks a special milestone for one of the most prominent players in Hungarian gastronomy: Nobu Budapest celebrates its 15th anniversary. On October 3 and 4, the Michelin-recommended restaurant will celebrate its birthday with two exclusive ‘World of Nobu’ Omakase dinners and a limited-capacity Sushi Masterclass, hosted by world-renowned chefs Go Namerikawa and Hervé Courtot, as well as the executive chef of the Budapest restaurant, Gábor Schreiner.
The press release issued on the occasion says that fans of Japanese cuisine in Central Europe were the first to taste Nobu's world-famous specialties in the Hungarian capital when the restaurant chain opened its local branch in the Hotel Kempinski Budapest in 2010, ushering in a new era in the capital's gastronomic world. As part of the world-famous Nobu network, it has become an iconic venue in Budapest, where Japanese and Peruvian cuisine come together to create unique taste experiences. The restaurant has won over not only the local audience, but also guests, celebrities and gastronomy enthusiasts from all over the world. Founder Nobu Matsuhisa began building his Japanese hospitality empire 30 years ago with the help of Robert De Niro, Drew Nieporent and Meir Teper.
Today, Nobu has 60 locations worldwide, 23 of which are also hotels. Its philosophy has remained unchanged since the beginning: innovative cuisine based on tradition, high-quality ingredients, and iconic signature dishes that impress guests time and time again.
The first World of Nobu dinner of the festive weekend will take place on October 3 at 6 p.m., featuring special chef creations. The menu will include the legendary aguachile seafood ceviche, a selection of Mediterranean nigiri, the famous turbot in tomato dashi ponzu, and smoked wagyu sirloin with miso apricot-fig salsa. The following day, October 4, also at 6 p.m., the World of Nobu menu will feature exciting compositions such as Japanese sea bass sashimi with dried olives and aged toro sashimi with tosazu truffle sauce. but those interested can also sample Name San's exclusive nigiri selection alongside Hokkaido scallops with Champagne miso.
As part of the anniversary program, an exclusive Sushi Masterclass will be held on October 4 from 12:00 to 14:00, led by Nobu Corporate Executive Sushi Chef Go Namerikawa. Participants in this limited-capacity workshop will learn about the art of sushi making, the basics of maki and nigiri preparation, using authentic ingredients and tools, while also gaining insight into the philosophy of Japanese cuisine from the chef who oversees the sushi offerings at Nobu restaurants worldwide.
The hosts of the festive weekend will be key figures in Nobu's global cuisine: Go Namerikawa, Nobu's Corporate Executive Sushi Chef, who is of Japanese origin, has been accompanying the global brand's conquest since its inception and currently oversees the sushi offerings at Nobu restaurants worldwide. French-born Hervé Courtot, Corporate Executive Chef, has had an illustrious international career, including overseeing the opening of Nobu at Atlantis The Palm in Dubai. He first met chef Nobu Matsuhisa more than 20 years ago, and the rest is history. The team is naturally reinforced by Nobu Budapest's executive chef, Gábor Schreiner, who has ensured the smooth operation of the local restaurant and the authentic Nobu experience since the beginning.
Nobu Budapest's 15th anniversary programs pay tribute to tradition while showcasing the brand's future. During the two evenings and the Sushi Masterclass, guests will enjoy an experience that is a rare opportunity in Hungary: they will be able to meet Nobu's world-famous team in person and experience what the Nobu lifestyle means in international gastronomy today.
