The Belgian-Hungarian owned Weerts Logistics Park (WLP) HUR One Ltd. is building a logistics hall of nearly 55.000 sqm in Ebes, close to the eastern Hungarian city of Debrecen. The groundbreaking ceremony took place this Wednesday.
A statement by WLP says it is the first investor with foreign interests to speculatively develop the Hajdú-Bihar-County headquarters area in advance, without an order book yet. The investment is excellently located near Debrecen airport and the BMW plant under construction.
The project, which will be built on a site of more than 122,000 sqm, will be designed with sustainability and renewable energy in mind. The logistics hall will feature energy-efficient solutions and will meet the criteria for BREEAM Very Good certification.
The presence of Belgian capital is now the eighth strongest in the Hungarian market. The group of investors in Ebes is not building a pre-contracted facility on a site designated by its clients, but is carrying out the investment at its own cost - on the business side. "Foreign capital enters Eastern Hungary without having an order book yet. Such speculative investments have so far only been made in the Budapest agglomeration. WLP represents the first foreign capital to leave the security of the Budapest area," Tibor Lőrincz-Hadnagy, COO & Operations Manager of the project, said.
"The construction of the Weerts Logistics Park is another key milestone in Market's portfolio. The Debrecen region, which boasts significant industrial developments, plays a key role in Market's business concept. We are intensifying our efforts to strengthen our presence in the region. After contracts with BMW, CATL, Krones and Semcorp, we are proud to have gained the trust of Weerts and to have the opportunity to show once again that the location can change, the object can change, but one thing remains constant: we love to build. The realisation of the Weerts Logistics Park will give us the opportunity to use the synergies of the Market Group to bring the project to life in the most efficient teamwork," Zoltán Jasper, Technical Director of Market Építő Plc. emphasized.
The Debrecen airport is only 20 minutes away, making the hall an ideal base for those considering air, rail and road freight transport. With BMW servicing companies expected to set up in Debrecen, this project could be an excellent link to the needs of the region.
