The logistics service provider Waberer's is building a logistics center covering almost 22,000 square meters in Debrecen, E Hungary. Construction of the facility began last November, the hall reached structural completion in August, and it is expected to start operating at the end of 2025, the Waberer's Group told MTI on Wednesday.
The announcement quoted György Szucsány, real estate development director at Waberer's Group, who said that the new logistics center, built with an investment of HUF 9 billion, will build on Debrecen's strategic location and economic development. The city is home to BMW's new car factory, and several major automotive industry investments and related suppliers are establishing new plants.
They pointed out that the logistics center is unique in its versatile design: in addition to normal, refrigerated, and frozen warehouses, it also has areas suitable for storing lithium-ion batteries, high-quality offices, a customs yard, and parking lots. The project focuses on sustainability and energy efficiency, with heat pump heating and cooling systems and a 250-kilowatt rooftop solar park. Electric vehicle chargers and intelligent building management systems all contribute to a lower ecological footprint and environmentally conscious operation.
The development is closely aligned with the company's long-term strategy, according to which the Waberer's Group will spend at least EUR 400 million on investments between 2025 and 2032. This will include the creation of a state-of-the-art National Logistics Network, of which the Debrecen complex will be a key component.
The Waberer's Group is Hungary's market-leading complex logistics service provider. Waberer's operates a modern fleet of nearly 2,800 trucks, 18 locomotives, more than 1,000 rail cars, and over 160 buses, and manages nearly 250,000 square meters of modern warehouse space.
