At the opening ceremony of this year's Scientific Student Conference of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), SAP Hungary Ltd. and the University signed a three-year strategic framework agreement. The goal of the two organizations is to develop an even closer relationship between Hungarian engineering education and the corporate technology ecosystem, which will serve to modernize education, promote industrial innovation, and ensure a supply of future professionals.
A statement by SAP Hungary says the three-year collaboration is based on the shared recognition that in the digital economy, only those students who have not only theoretical knowledge but also practical knowledge of modern corporate technologies will be truly competitive. Accordingly, the framework agreement includes several projects and developments that will give BME students direct access to SAP's enterprise systems, modern cloud-based infrastructure, and leading business digitalization technologies. With this agreement, the parties are creating a framework focused on joint education and research goals, which defines the professional directions of the cooperation.
As part of the agreement, SAP is also supporting the creation of a physical and virtual laboratory that will become the professional center of the cooperation. In the lab, students will be able to work in a real-world business environment with SAP's next-generation cloud-based enterprise management system, SAP S/4HANA, as well as business analytics solutions and other modern SAP technologies equipped with AI capabilities. These systems are used on a daily basis by the world's leading companies, bringing a new quality to university education by enabling students to acquire practical knowledge that they can use in their future jobs. The center will also serve as a meeting point for educators, researchers, students, and SAP experts, promoting two-way knowledge transfer and joint innovation.
As part of the collaboration, BME plans to join SAP's international University Alliances program, a global education network connecting thousands of universities. This will give BME teachers and students access to the entire SAP curriculum and training portfolio, real-world business simulations, and tasks that demonstrate how digital companies operate. As part of the program, students can also earn SAP certifications, which will give them a significant advantage in the domestic and international labor markets.
SAP Hungary, which currently employs nearly 2,000 people, plays a key role in the cloud transformation of its parent company: in addition to commercial and support functions, it also serves domestic customers with a consulting department, and its multicultural development center in Budapest, SAP Labs Hungary, is a prominent location in the SAP network on a global scale.
