Audi Hungaria has been manufacturing the second generation of the compact premium SUV since 2018. A few months ago, the millionth vehicle rolled off the production line, and following its world premiere in June, series production of the third generation is now beginning. This Thursday, the first vehicle – a sage green Q3 – rolled off the production line.
In a statement issued on this occasion, the company points out that Audi celebrated the world premiere of the new Audi Q3 in mid-June this year. With more than 25 years of experience, the Audi Hungaria vehicle factory is starting series production of this popular model. This further strengthens the company's leading role in the Hungarian automotive industry.
"Audi Hungaria creates added value for its customers with attractive and popular products and services. The Audi Q3 has been an important part of our portfolio since 2018," Michael Breme, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria said.
"The new model ensures high production volumes for the vehicle factory. I am proud of our employees, who have accompanied the ramp-up of Audi Q3 production with their dedication and many years of professional experience," according to Zoltán Les, Member of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria responsible for Vehicle Production.
The third generation of the Audi Q3 sets new standards in the A segment. The new Q3 is a logical further development of the previous successful model and thus represents an entry point into the premium Audi brand for many people. The new Audi Q3 features an efficient, partially electric internal combustion engine and a plug-in hybrid with an electric range of up to 119 kilometers: some of the model's engines are also manufactured in Győr. The market launch is planned for this fall.
The Audi Q3 has always been an extremely popular model in the Audi portfolio. The four-ring company is therefore expecting high demand for the new generation, which is why it is planning joint production with the Ingolstadt plant in addition to the Győr plant. The bodies for this additional volume will also be manufactured in Győr, while painting and assembly will take place in Germany.
The Audi Q3 is already the sixth model in Győr to be produced on the same production lines that once produced the Audi A3 Limousine and Cabriolet, as well as the now legendary Audi TT Coupé and Roadster. In addition to the new Q3, Audi Hungaria has also been producing the CUPRA Terramar model since last autumn, making Győr one of the most flexible assembly plants in the Audi Group.
With more than 30 years of experience in powertrain production and 25 years in vehicle manufacturing, Audi Hungaria is one of the leading players in the Hungarian automotive industry and an important pillar of the Audi and VW Group.
