This Saturday, athletes took over runway I of Ferenc Liszt International Airport once again: the airport operator Budapest Airport, part of the VINCI Airports network, organized the Runway Run, the traditional charity race of the aviation community for the thirteenth time. As in previous years, one hundred percent of the entry fees is donated to charities.
The Runway Run, Budapest Airport’s charity run, started again on Saturday: for the thirteenth year of this popular race, 1,144 runners took to the track to share the experience of running together for a good cause. At the race, which traditionally represents the unity of the aviation industry, runners competed on the airport’s closed runway, with their entry fees supporting the work of two charities.
As in previous years, Budapest Airport will donate all proceeds raised from entry fees to the SUHANJ! Foundation, which supports sporting opportunities for handicapped and disabled people and the Save Lives Public Benefit Foundation, which supports the recovery of sick children.
The race was open to children from 6 to 14 years old, who could test themselves on a 1- or 2-kilometer distance, depending on their age group.
In the history of the Runway Run, Budapest Airport has donated more than HUF 120 million to charity so far, while the amount donated this year will be announced later.
