Tamás Kádár, CEO of Sziget, said that more tickets have been sold for this year's festival than last year. Due to Covid and other industry impacts, ticket sales had been declining since 2022, but the current growth is definitely welcome at the event held on the Óbuda Island on the River Danube.
Kádár also said that the fact that this is the 30th Sziget is of great significance to them, so they have reorganized the festival to some extent and are welcoming visitors with new venues.
The most noticeable change is that the popular Magic Mirror has been moved to the northern part of the festival, which means visitors will have to walk much further to get there.
Kádár emphasized that the event is still unique compared to other European festivals in that it offers free camping to the audience, who can essentially pitch a tent anywhere on the grounds. The VIP camping area, on the other hand, has been expanded to include wellness facilities, so those who can afford it can relax with a sauna and sound therapy before the party.
This year, the festival is placing great emphasis on venues showcasing multidisciplinary arts, and the circus venue has also been expanded, with light installations on display at night. This year, the festival has created Szohó, the essence of which is that they wanted to create a city within the Island.
This is where the Dropyard and The Buzz stages are located, and there will also be a skateboard exhibition where you can rent skateboards. You can get a tattoo in Szohó, and there will also be a barber, as well as a wooden house called Joker, where there will be slam poetry, board games and stand-up comedy shows. The organizers of Sziget have long wanted to provide more venues for electronic music, so in addition to the Colosseum and the former party arena (this year's Bolt Night Stage), they are dedicating a separate quarter (Delta District) to nightlife with a venue called The Club.
